Important 'Default' Server JAR - No longer Vanilla (at least for 1.13.2)

As Vanilla 1.13.2 is still a performance nightmare - some of this is touched on in the previous post here - we have decided to set the 'Default' option on the control panel, and the version that new servers come with automatically, to Spigot 1.13.2 rather than Vanilla.

For the most part this should not make any negative to any server owners - as Spigot runs as basic Minecraft (as long as no plugins are installed) anybody purchasing a server with the intention of simply using basic Minecraft 1.13.2 will not notice any difference ingame, at least not in a bad way. The performance of Spigot 1.13.2 is considerably better than the performance of Vanilla 1.13.2 so it will help to avoid new services running into lag/performance issues straight away - switching to Spigot has been the advised fix for the performance issues on Vanilla servers for a while now anyway.
Note that there are still some performance issues in Spigot 1.13.2, but they are minimal in comparison to Vanilla - Minecraft 1.13.2 is simply nowhere near as stable as 1.12.2 and older were unfortunately, but using Spigot will allow it to run as well as it can.

While the Minecraft 1.14 snapshots/pre-releases are still ongoing - so we cannot know whether the performance of the 1.14 full release will fix the issues in Vanilla yet - if the performance issues are still present after the update we may stick with Spigot being the default server software used. It will be switched to Vanilla 1.14 on release for a while regardless, both to test the performance first and to allow Spigot time to fix he initial wave of bugs/issues as needed, but it may get swapped back to Spigot if the performance is still poor.
